Allia Serious Impact will continue to support social enterprises and mission-driven businesses in east London/Hackney through it's incubator and accelerator in 2019.

It is a part of our current thrust and business plan to support the setting up of social enterprises (especially from the BAME sector) and we have been partnering with different community groups in Hackney and elsewhere towards this endeavour.

By continuing to be present in Hackney. And promote the Social Enterprise Mark at our market Stalls and Social media.

Centre 151 is proud to be part of Hackney and will always promote the Borough and other social enterprises along its own brand.

The Co-operative College will support HCD and social enterprise in Hackney by sharing our emerging practice with co-operative councils, such as models for "learning lunches" bring the social enterprise lens into increasing co-operative focus.

- • Continue to work with SEUK and other social enterprise partners and stakeholders to share knowledge, experience and best practice in the promotion of Hackney as a hub for social enterprise
- • Continue to facilitate and promote the Hackney Social Enterprise Mark as a symbol that recognises robust and sustainable social enterprises who demonstrate significant involvement in, or commitment to, the London Borough of Hackney, its communities and/or its physical environment
- • Publicise, promote and celebrate the development of social enterprise (individually and as a collective) in the borough, both on and off-line. This will include running multi sector social enterprise events and publishing relevant content through the Pioneering Social Enterprise in Hackney programme
- • Be an active participant and supporter of events in Hackney aimed at social enterprise or promoting the sector
- • Continue to welcome delegations from outside the UK, who are specifically interested in learning about the growth and success of social enterprises in Hackney

- • Hackney Council will commit to supporting a yearly conference on Social Enterprise Day promoting the social enterprise sector in Hackney and supporting those looking to set up a social enterprises.
- • Hackney Council will commit resource to developing and coordinating a programme of promotion of the social enterprise sector both within the Council and to residents and workers in Hackney.
- • Hackney Council will commit to ensuring that both existing and future international partnership arrangements positively promote, where possible, the social enterprise sector and its role in improving the lives of residents; sharing knowledge and best practice in the process.
- • Hackney Council will commit to promoting the work of local social enterprises and the social enterprise quality mark through social media and Hackney Today as and when content is made available by The Social Enterprise Partnership.
- • Hackney Council will commit to working with HCD to explore if through the development of their Quality Mark social enterprises could be enabled to access the grants programme.

The Hackney Social Enterprise Mark will be a local symbol which recognises robust sustainable social enterprises that demonstrate significant involvement in, or commitment to, the London Borough of Hackney, its communities or its physical environment. SEUK is happy to promote the work of Hackney in championing social enterprise.

We will work with Hackney Council and social enterprises in the borough on a cultural exchange programme in 2019 with Brazillian female creative and cultural social enterprises as part of a project with the British Council. This will in turn be promoted across Global media - linking east London and Rio de Janeiro with a socially impactful Olympics legacy. In addition we will make a film to be promoted online about the cross-cultural exchange which will see local Hackney female-led social entrepreneurs come together with their Brazillian peers for a social innovation Hack-a-thon.

With the appropriate support ACT Training Services will continue to develop and provide high yielding educational programmes aimed at equipping and empowering vulnerable people and their families in Hackney.

We will continue to give priority access to our services to women, BAME, migrant and other marginalised entrepreneurs.

We are committed to directly supporting initiatives from the BAME sector and other migrants communities in the setting up innovative social enterprises that aim to empower marginalised groups and promote mutual co-operation and sustainability.

Bootstrap will continue its involvement in the local economy through its expanding outreach programmes and supporting our tenants to grow their impact sustainably.

By offering volunteering opportunities and getting the Hackney Community involved in our activities.

Centre 151 will keep looking after those most in need of support, encourage community cohesion and connect further with other social enterprises within the Borough.

The Co-operative College plans to start a new project "Hackney Youth Co-ops" as a first step to supporting young people in Hackney and London explore the co-operative difference. In addition to our youth programmes the Co-operative College is dedicated to providing co-operative education to adults. We are not only dedicated to developing thriving co-operatives, but successful co-operators.

We will engage with co-ops in the borough, alongside wider social enterprise, promoting access to networking and support, such as the Hive programme supported by the Co-operative Bank.

We will work with local youth and young adults to provide a platform for them to share and amplify their own voices and stories.

By help growing Hackney social enterprise

- • Continue to provide dedicated support for the start-up, development, growth and sustainability of Hackney's social enterprises directly through the Pioneering Social Enterprise in Hackney programme
- • Maintain continued engagement with the social enterprise community in Hackney to understand the challenges faced by social entrepreneurs and social enterprises, and co-develop strategies to address these challenges
- • Identify and secure resources (such as the apprenticeship levy) that can be used to develop training programmes aimed at BAME and other marginalized groups, with the intention of creating business advisors and/or mentors for social entrepreneurs and growing social enterprises
- • Explore opportunities to work with schools in the promotion of social enterprise to students

- • Hackney Council will commit to re-letting the contract for community cooking classes (to be awarded by April 2019) and will prioritise charities or businesses whose primary function is to achieve social impact rather than generate profit for stakeholders.
- • Hackney Council will commit to offering surplus in-house Council training opportunities out to VCS sector and social enterprises and will review the offer again in 2019.
- • Hackney Council will commit to ensuring that initiatives that target local SMEs involve social enterprises and VCS.
- • Hackney Council will commit to engaging with Social Enterprises to support them in selling to the Council and helping shape future procurement policy to support the social enterprise sector in the borough.

Loughborough University London will continue to offer scholarships to social entrepreneurs wishing to study in our taught Master's programmes; we will offer venue space at partner or discounted rates to Hackney's social enterprises; we can offer student support to social enterprises in solving business problems as part of the Collaborative Project

Through working with different demographics and identifying transferable skills, we will be offering training to support development and match relevant skills to required volunteer or employment positions within the borough

Use local social enterprise suppliers wherever possible

We are currently funding a local Social Enterprise - Green Your School - to work with local Hackney Schools to get their students involved in environmental projects. We would also like to support /fund other Hackney Social Enterprises to start up and grow.

SEUK can support through sharing resources and insight in how to support social enterprises in their development.

We will continue to run our Purpose-Driven Network 'impact career' events at the Future Business Centre in Hackney, bringing people from the business world and all over London into Hackney to learn more about how they can have a career in social enterprise.

ACT Training Services will participate in a forum that aims to build an appropriate platform, contributing as required based on ACT's 12 years experience of working with a range of stakeholders in Hackney.

We will dedicate some of our time to bringing experienced talent from the social enterprise sector into our curriculum and workshop delivery to ensure that all social enterprises we support will learn from experts. We will also dedicate our time to key partnerships that match mentors and other industry specialists with start-ups to collaborate to solve business and social impact challenges.

The Co-operative College is dedicated to supporting our co-operative network in Hackney to support the Hackney Social Enterprise Network - our projects will facilitate mentoring opportunities. We will also continue to promote co-operative membership and invite the network to join the Co-operative College as members and take advantage of our full range of programmes and courses. Further, the Co-operative College is currently engaged in a research project to collate available co-operative knowledge into the "Knowledge Base", this information will be shared widely, including throughout the Hackney co-operative and social enterprise network.

Developing a collaborative partnership

Work with schools in Hackney to deliver the Social Business Challenge which raises awareness amongst young people about social enterprise and challenges them to develop a social business that tackles an environmental problem.

- • Champion Principle 6 of the 7 Cooperative Principles; promoting co-operation between stakeholders at all levels

- • Hackney Council will seek opportunities to provide affordable workspace to Hackney’s social enterprises through the Council’s Approved Workspace Provider list either in the form of social enterprises letting the affordable workspace from the developers or social enterprises being signposted to the affordable workspace offered in these premises.
- • Hackney Council will introduce a policy requirement in the Local Plan that requires all new workspace be delivered to a minimum standard of fit out to make it easier for small businesses to access space.
